M. Aslam Chaudhary is a civil servant and joined Government of Pakistan in the year 2000. He has diverse experience in the areas of public sector development finance, public policy, public debt management, audit and evaluation and client relationship management. He has exposure to work in multicultural environment and to deal with multilateral and bilateral development partners. He is pro change to bring reforms in the conventional functioning of the public sector organizations.
He is presently serving as Joint Secretary to the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance and dealing with External Finance and Public investments. He is an active member of the team dealing with implementation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is pilot project of Belt & Road Initiative (BRI). Prior to this he has served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs for five years. He was wing head dealing with Government of China, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). He has also served as Director of the Board of AIIB, representing the constituency member countries: Azerbaijan, Brunei, Georgia, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, and Turkey. He has been chairman of Audit & Risk Committee of AIIB board for the year 2020 and 2021.
Mr. Aslam has done his master’s in finance from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester UK. He is fellow member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan. He has attended different courses and workshops internationally, like Harvard School for short course on Strategy. He is also author of a number of research studies
